Amazon create 2,000 more jobs for workers in Tilbury and Basildon

Amazon is upping their game for Q3/Q4 2019, with up to 50 manager positions being available across Essex as well as plans of hiring over 2,000 additional workers by the end of 2019. This is part of a plan to extend their permanent workforce higher than 29,500 by 2020.

These jobs include many trades that require experienced and qualified professionals in fields like IT, safety and engineering and maintenance. These opportunities are available at both sites within Essex: one site in Tilbury, another in Basildon.

As another part of their plan, Amazon are aiming to support more graduates, whether in technical, non-technical or operations based opportunities to prepare them for their future careers. To achieve this Amazon has partnered with various universities with plans for graduates to work on key projects that will provide a more beneficial shopping experience to all of their customers, boosting their knowledge and experience in their selected field.

Speaking on the matter, Stefano Perego – Amazon’s Vice President of UK Customer Fulfilment had this to say: “We are delighted to be recruiting for specialist managerial roles in our operations network in Essex, with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits from the very first day,”

“These are highly-skilled roles working on exciting and innovative new technologies that benefit Amazon’s customers around the world. We’re proud to employ thousands of people in Essex to ensure we continue delivering a fantastic level of service for our customers.”

Amazon’s permanent employees are working in the fulfilment centres across the country, as well as the delivery/distribution stations – there are various benefits Amazon has introduced to appeal to potential employees including medical insurance, stocks, income protection, discounts and a company pension plan.

In Tilbury, Amazon’s newest warehouse has become one of the firm’s most successful distribution centres across the UK.
